The research at the School of Chemical Engineering focuses on forest products technologies, chemical engineering, industrial biotechnology, materials science and nanotechnology, metals and minerals processing and energy technology. The school has two special research infrastructures: bioeconomy infrastructure that enables research from molecular level to biobased technology concepts, and raw materials research infrastructure, that supports the research of circular economy targeting to closed metallurgical and hydrometallurgical processes and inorganic energy materials.
TENURE TRACK/TENURED PROFESSOR IN POLYMER ENGINEERING
The Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering at Aalto University School of Chemical Engineering invites applications for the position of Professor in Polymer Engineering. The position can be filled at any level of the Aalto tenure track system (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor).
The position and our expectations
We are looking for a future world-class leader in research and education in the field of polymer engineering. Important qualifications for the position are documented experience preferably in several of the following fields: polymer synthesis, polymer chemistry, polymer reaction engineering and industrial polymer processes. Of special interest in research and education is on sustainable processes and products.
We also appreciate candidates with additional experience in the following fields: Polymer structure/property relationships, organic chemistry, polymer recycling, advanced polymerizations, biobased materials, polymer material science, and polymer processing. Candidates with industrial experience or close collaboration with industrial partners are highly appreciated.
We expect you to be a strong team player who can build an outstanding and dynamic research line, continuously contributing to research and education within the department on undergraduate and graduate levels, in close collaboration with industry and other research groups within Aalto University, nationally, and internationally. A doctoral degree with relevant further post-doctoral research experience is a prerequisite for the position. The applicants will be reviewed based on their excellence and future potential in scientific research and teaching, and their active role within the international science community.
