RESEARCHER PROFILE: Postdoc / R2: PhD holders
RESEARCH FIELD(S)1: Physics and Engineering
MAIN SUB RESEARCH FIELD OR DISCIPLINES1:

JOB /OFFER DESCRIPTION
Nanoscale miniaturization of semiconductor devices has led to major advances in opto/nanoelectronics. However, this device downscaling also brought technological issues. Among them, one of the most detrimental effects is the self-heating due to the thermalization of hot carriers generated by high electric fields.  This self-heating effect results in significant reduction in performance and lifetimes of the devices. On the other hand, the refrigeration of the entire systems is extremely power consuming.

The aim of the post-doc is therefore to conceive, based on in-house quantum transport codes, hybrid cooling devices, exploiting both electronic and phononic transport properties at the nanoscale, under electrical or optical stimulation. The position is fulltime in the framework of the COCONUT project funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR).
