The Gas Turbine Transmission Research Centre (G2TRC) requires a Research Associate, Fellow or Senior Research Fellow for a new project investigating thermal management issues in future propulsion systems. G2TRC has a large intra-disciplinary team of researchers, engineers, technicians, support staff and academics who work together to deliver research from fundamental to high level TRL.
The project involves the development, validation and application of a new modelling platform to allow design investigations of the thermal management requirements for new propulsion architectures. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring the programme of work is carried out in a robust, well-managed and well-documented manner. Thermal management knowledge and experience, including the creation and application of fluid/heat transfer analysis models in previous roles, is essential.
Candidates must hold a PhD (or be near to completion) or equivalent, in engineering, applied mathematics or a related subject area, with a major component in fluid modelling and/or thermal management. The ability to work in a team, lead both internally and externally, and interact/collaborate actively and professionally with industrial partners is essential. It is essential that the successful applicant is able to actively support knowledge exchange and transfer activities between Rolls-Royce and the University of Nottingham.
This post is available immediately and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 24 months. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours per week), however job share arrangements may be considered.
