You will be responsible for teaching courses in the Bachelor and Master in the Faculty of Engineering, from within the Mechanical Engineering department:

  • Introductory Bachelor Courses related to the Mechanical Engineering domain. E.g. “Technologieproject Werktuigkunde”, "Vibrations" (faculty of Engineering) and “Ingenieurstechnieken en -processen” (Faculty of Social Sciences & Solvay Business School).
  • Master Courses related to the Mechanical Engineering domain. E.g.: design methodology, production technology, machine components, additive manufacturing, metrology.

Research tasks:

  • You will inspire and coordinate the research in the domain of hybrid laser metal deposition and smart structures.

You will maintain and setup national and international cooperations.

You identify industrial applications and valorisation opportunities.

You will inspire and guide a research group of post-docs and PhD’s.

Monitoring and control of laser based hybrid manufacturing technologies.

Hybrid and metal additive manufacturing machine tool design and process integration.

You develop solutions for dealing with problems in hybrid manufacturing of metal parts such as: roughness, geometrical distortions, residual stresses, and overall material properties.

Development of data-driven approaches in improving overall hybrid production process’ including in-situ metrology, data-driven toolpath definition and part design.

Research and innovation of additive manufactured smart structures using optical, acoustic, and other sensing technologies.
