YOUR TASKS 

  • At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research in preparation of a doctoral dissertation that is related to forensic toxicology, with a specific focus on applied pharmacology and new psychoactive substances.

  • You will assist in the teaching activities at the department of Bioanalysis (in Dutch, at Bachelor and Master level).

  • You will assist in the internal and external services of the department.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Care or a Master's in Drug Development or an equivalent diploma. For diplomas obtained outside the European Union, an equivalency certificate from NARIC must be submitted. The degree requirements needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.

  • Additional training is considered an asset.

  • You have distinguished yourself during your studies.

  • You have hands-on experience with in vitro techniques (cell culture, molecular biology techniques, bioassays, etc.), have a good knowledge about pharmacology, and you show a strong interest in conducting scientific research in the field of in vitro studies related to new psychoactive substances, with the aim of obtaining a PhD in this research domain.

  • Your CV demonstrates a strong affinity with and/or knowledge of (a subdiscipline of) toxicology.

  • You are punctual and well-organized, particularly in the context of supporting forensic toxicological services.

  • You possess excellent didactic and communication skills (which may be assessed during an interview).

  • You have excellent teaching abilities and are willing to assist in supervising practical sessions (in Dutch). Teaching experience is considered an asset.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a two-year appointment, which may be renewed twice for two years, on condition that the previous term was given a positive evaluation. Attention: If you have been previously appointed as a junior assistant or doctoral fellow at a university within the Flemish Community, this appointment will be deducted from the maximum term of appointment, which is six years at the most according to the Codex of Higher Education.

  • Your appointment will start on 15 October 2025 at the earliest.
