YOUR TASKS

  • 100% of your assignment will be spent on academic research.
  • We are looking for a talented and motivated experienced master with an interest in cell death and inflammation research. You will join the research group of Prof. Dr. Peter Vandenabeele and work in close collaboration with a technician. 
  • The multidisciplinary and international team of the Vandenabeele lab is embedded within the VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research (IRC) and strives to better understand the signal transduction and targeting of cell death and inflammation.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

  • You hold a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, or a related biological field (e.g. Pharmaceutical Sciences or Bioengineering).
  • You have proven research experience of at least 3 years in biological cell death and inflammation assays, mastering techniques in cell biology and molecular cell biology (western blotting, analyzing signal transduction pathways, recombinant DNA techniques, transfection of cells, …).
  • You have excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written. 
  • You are familiar with common MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • You hold a FELASA certificate or equivalent for animal research. 
  • You are punctual and accurate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • You can work independently and function well within a team. 
  • You have a positive and proactive attitude: You take initiative and have a hands-on mentality, perseverance, and a critical mind.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a contract of definite duration starting on 01/07/2026 and ending on 30/09/2027. 
  • You will be part of a team of science-driven researchers, including both wet lab, BioIT experts and coordinate contacts with service facilities in compound screening and proteomics.
  • You will collaborate with a technician for in vivo work.
  • Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4.  Click here for more information about our salary scales.
