Job description

The Division of Particle physics, Astrophysics and Medical imaging at the Physics Department develops radiation detectors for use in basic science research and medical imaging applications. A research engineer is sought for the development of analogue and digital electronic systems to condition, process, analyze and store the detector signals. The resulting detector systems are used in research laboratories, in space missions, at the European Particle Physics Laboratory (CERN), and in clinical settings. The position also includes electronics engineering support to activities within the KTH Space Centre, as well as the development of teaching laboratories at the Physics Department.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A graduate degree or an advanced level (higher education) with a strong connection to electronics, or comparable experience from industry.
  • Practical experience of analogue and digital design; printed circuit board design, construction, and test; FPGA programming; electronics system testing in a laboratory environment.
  • The work environment is international. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, are required.
  • You are communicative, independent, goal- and result-oriented.
  • You have good collaboration skills, you are well-organised and should enjoy working across multiple projects.
  • You should have experience of supervising younger colleagues and/or students.

Preferred qualifications

  • Practical experience of microprocessor (e.g. Arduino) programming; computer programming in, e.g. python, for simple data visualisation
  • Practical experience of CAD-tools for mechanical design.
  • Experience of working with ionising radiation
  • You should be curious by nature and have an interest in the research conducted in the Division.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
  • Good oral and written presentation skills in Swedish.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal skills.
