Project

People go through a number of transitions at different stages of their careers. These range from taking up a different role (e.g. from student to employee, from employee to retirement) to taking up a different function or job. Although there is increasing attention to these career transitions, research has mainly focused on ‘anticipated transitions’ (such as school-to-work) on the one hand, and on examining career outcomes (such as career success) on the other. Within this project, the focus will not be on these career outcomes, but specifically on the role of well-being around career transitions. Within this theme, you will get a lot of autonomy as a researcher, under the supervision of Prof dr. Ilke Grosemans. You will also provide limited support in teaching (e.g. coaching of student groups, administration...).

Profile

  • You have a degree of master in psychology or educational sciences, master in economic and business sciences, master in social sciences or in another social science discipline, with excellent study results. Students who will obtain one of these degrees this academic year are also eligible.
  • You like to write and write well. You like to communicate your results, both in scientific outlets and to a wider audience.

  • You have a good knowledge of English.

  • You have an affinity and interest in quantitative methods (research with surveys).

  • You have an affinity and interest in topics in work psychology.

  • You enjoy working independently.

Offer

  • We offer the PhD candidate a full-time research position for 4 years, on condition of a positive evaluation after 1 year.
  • The PhD candidate will be part of a stimulating and challenging international work environment with a high degree of flexibility and autonomy.

Interested?

Do not hesitate to contact Prof. dr. Ilke Grosemans ([email protected]) for more information. We expect your CV, cover letter and at least one reference that we may contact no later than 4 June. Interviews will follow the CV screening. At the interviews, we will ask you to give a short presentation related to the topic of the PhD.

KU Leuven strives for an inclusive, respectful and socially safe environment. We embrace diversity among individuals and groups as an asset. Open dialogue and differences in perspective are essential for an ambitious research and educational environment. In our commitment to equal opportunity, we recognize the consequences of historical inequalities. We do not accept any form of discrimination based on, but not limited to, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, age, ethnic or national background, skin colour, religious and philosophical diversity, neurodivergence, employment disability, health, or socioeconomic status.
