The research group ORSTAT of KU Leuven (Belgium) has a vacancy for a full-time PhD scholarship in Statistics.
Website unit

Project

The PhD candidate will work on statistical properties  of machine learning methods for time series prediction.
You will find a very dynamic and pleasant working environment, in a group that conducts research at the highest international level.

Profile

Candidates should have a very strong interest in statistics/data science and preferably have a background as Master of Science in Statistics, Mathematics, Applied Economics, Business Engineering, Economics, Civil Engineering or Computer Science.
An average degree of 'distinction' during preliminary studies (bachelor and master) is required, as well as an appropriate knowledge of written and spoken English.
Experience with programming languages (such as R and/or Python) is an asset. Also students that are currently in the final year of their Master studies can apply.

Offer

We offer an employment as full-time doctoral scholar for 1 year, starting in September 2025, renewable until max. 4 years after a positive evaluation.
