The DRAMCO research group focuses on wireless and embedded systems. Custom solutions are built for IoT applications, embedded sensors, indoor localization, and wireless energy transfer. We have a vacancy for a doctor-assistant (post-doc) in the domain of wireless systems and components, with a specific focus on technology for energy-neutral IoT systems and autonomous radar systems. A significant part of the research is conducted in collaboration with industrial partners. The DRAMCO research group is part of the Department of Electrical Engineering (ESAT) and is based at the Rabot campus of KU Leuven Ghent.

Responsibilities

The full-time position encompasses research, service, and teaching duties.
Regarding teaching, you will conduct lab sessions and provide theoretical lessons in the fields of electronic design and analog design, as well as supervise projects for Engineering Experience (IB) in the Bachelor and Master of Engeneering Technology: Electronics-ICT programs in Ghent and Bruges. We are seeking candidates who are immediately capable of taking these teaching tasks.
Regarding research, you will primarily align with ongoing research on IoT, energy-neutral devices, wireless energy transfer, and radar monitoring systems by supervising ongoing doctoral research and collaborating on current projects. You are also expected to make efforts to secure additional research funding within the research group's domain.
In terms of service provision, you will initiate and follow up on projects with local industrial partners. You will also assume (co-)responsibility for the management of the research group's laboratory infrastructure and technical setups.

Profile

  • You hold a PhD in Engineering Technology in the field of Electronics - ICT.
  • You have practical experience with RF and embedded design, radar systems, autonomous Internet of Things (IoT) systems, and wireless energy transfer.
  • You are a team player and have the capacity to lead young researchers.
  • You have a C1 level in Dutch or are native Dutch speaker.
  • You have a good command of the English language, both spoken and written.
  • You have experience in university teaching.

  • Appointment as a doctoral assistant for 3 years (100%), with the possibility of a one-time extension for an additional period of 3 years.
