Position Overview
The Faculty of Medical Sciences and UM6P Hospitals invite applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
The successful candidate will join the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and contribute to the department's clinical, educational, and research missions. This position is designed for physicians pursuing an academic career that integrates patient care, medical education, and scientific research within a dynamic and rapidly evolving academic health center.
Applicants with expertise or interest in subspecialties—including Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Medicine, Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, Family Planning, or Gynecologic Endocrinology—are particularly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Clinical Activities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient obstetric and gynecological care.
- Diagnose and manage obstetric and gynecological conditions according to evidence-based clinical practice.
- Perform medical and surgical procedures appropriate to their qualifications and clinical privileges.
- Participate in antenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, emergency, and gynecological care.
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated patient care.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of specialized women's health services.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and comply with institutional quality and patient safety standards.
Education
- Participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities within the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
- Supervise and mentor medical students, residents, interns, and other healthcare trainees.
- Contribute to curriculum development, simulation-based education, and innovative teaching initiatives.
- Participate in academic assessment and educational quality improvement activities.
Research and Academic Activities
- Develop and participate in clinical, translational, and collaborative research projects in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Contribute to scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences.
- Participate in the preparation of competitive research grant applications.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaborations within UM6P and with international academic partners.
- Contribute actively to the academic life, governance, and strategic development of the Faculty and UM6P Hospitals.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should possess:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
- Recognized specialty qualification in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Eligibility for medical practice in accordance with applicable national regulations.
- Demonstrated commitment to academic medicine, clinical excellence, research, and medical education.
- Strong motivation to develop an academic career integrating clinical care, teaching, and scientific research.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
- Strong analytical, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with digital health technologies and standard clinical information systems.
- Fluency in English and French (written and spoken). Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset.
