The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is a premier research institute dedicated to fundamental and applied research in high-energy physics, advanced accelerator technology, and radiation applications. IHEP is committed to becoming a world-leading center in high-energy physics and a large-scale, multidisciplinary research hub.

In 2013, IHEP established its Dongguan Research Division in Guangdong Province, which is responsible for the construction and operation of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), a major national science and technology facility. CSNS is a high-performance pulsed spallation neutron source serving as an open platform for cutting-edge fundamental research and applied studies in many disciplines. The first phase of construction was completed in 2018, and 11 neutron instrument beamlines are now in operation. In April 2024, the second phase project (CSNS-II) was launched, which will add 9 new specialized scientific instruments and 2 experimental end-stations.

To strengthen its in-house research capabilities, CSNS has established a Research and Development Division and is now inviting applications globally for leadership positions (Principal Investigator) and members in 13 key research areas.

I. Key Research Areas

  1. Structural Biology and Targeted Drugs: targeted boron drug R&D and drug characterization platform
  2. Advanced Materials Computing: structure and phonon dynamics of materials
  3. Solid-State Ionics: neutron scattering, electrochemistry, solid-state ions, and solid-state chemistry
  4. Phonon Physics and Phonon Materials: phonon chirality, anharmonicity, and transport
  5. Superconducting Materials: mechanisms, spin excitations, crystal fields, and lattice dynamics
  6. Quantum Magnetism: quantum phase transitions, frustration, and spin liquids
  7. Multifunctional Magnetic Materials: magnetic structures and magnons
  8. Ferroelectrics and Spintronics: phase transitions, thin films, devices
  9. Solar Photovoltaics: microstructure, interfacial behavior, structure-property relationships, and thin-film devices
  10. New Materials and Single-Crystal Growth: synthesis and crystal development
  11. Functional Alloys: structure, phase transitions, and stress engineering
  12. Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs): refined structure, diffusion kinetics, and phonons
  13. Artificial Intelligence: experimental methods, data mining, and materials informatics

II. Open Positions & Requirements
