About Our Campus: Hebrew University’s Edmond J. Safra Campus is a vibrant hub of academic and research excellence nestled in the heart of Jerusalem. Our modern campus boasts state-of-the-art lab facilities, world-renowned faculty, and a stimulating environment that fosters scientific exploration, intellectual growth, and innovation.

About Our Department: The Institute of Applied Physics, part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is dedicated to advancing our understanding of physical processes and leveraging this knowledge to drive technological advancements. Our department focuses on applied physics areas, including optoelectronics, nano-engineering, and quantum technologies.

About Our Research: Our group at the Institute of Applied Physics research nitrogen-vacancy (NV) color centers in diamond, which can serve as building blocks for quantum information processing, quantum sensing, and simulations of many-body physics. We are currently constructing a super-resolution correlation microscope to perform novel measurements on magnetic materials and devices, including van der Waals (vdW) magnets, spintronic devices, and non-trivial magnetic excitations like skyrmions.

Job Description: We are seeking a motivated post-doc fellow candidate to join our team in developing a super-resolution magnetic correlation microscopy system. This project will involve experimental work with NV centers in diamond and exploring magnetic materials, vdW materials, and spintronic devices. The research provides a unique opportunity to contribute to advancements in quantum sensing and super-resolution microscopy.

About Your Supervisor: Prof. Nir Bar-Gill is a leading researcher in quantum information, sensing, and simulations. He joined the Hebrew University in 2013, establishing the Quantum Information, Simulation, and Sensing lab. He holds a Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute of Science and conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard, focusing on NV centers in diamond.

Funding: Annual salary of 150,000 NIS (≈ 41,800 USD).

Your Profile (To excel in this role, we seek candidates with):

  • A strong background in experimental physics, particularly in quantum sensing, NV centers in diamond, or super-resolution microscopy.
  • Experience with magnetic materials, vdW materials, or spintronic devices is highly advantageous.
  • High motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Embracing Diversity: At Hebrew University we believe that diversity inspires creativity, fosters curiosity, and enriches our ecosystem through academic collaboration and cultural exchange. We consider every member of our community an integral part, irrespective of their religion, gender, or ethnic origin.

HUJI is home to nearly 25,000 students across our 6 campuses, including ~2,500 international students per year representing 90+ countries. You’ll enjoy the opportunity to engage with your peers here on equal ground, in an environment that promotes equity and inclusion, and celebrates the contribution of its talented members.

Application:  We welcome your application with all required documents compiled into a single PDF:

  • Letter of motivation
  • CV (including a list of publications)
  • Copy of your original academic degree(s)

Application Deadline: See details below.
