About us
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) at the University of Luxembourg brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences.
People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed. The faculty's research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society.
Your role
The doctoral project will broadly examine how university students develop understandings of research and research skills through formal and informal learning opportunities. Within this overarching area, the precise focus of the PhD thesis will be discussed and defined in dialogue with the candidate, taking into account their interests and background.
Possible directions include, but are not limited to, research training in academic university programmes and/or the teaching and learning of research in professionally oriented higher education pathways (e.g. teacher education, psychology, health professions education). The project may, for example, examine how students learn to conduct research, how research methods are taught, how students engage with research-based knowledge, or how research training contributes to academic and professional development.
