Konya Food and Agriculture University

Embracing the central theme of “converting knowledge into products”, solid and continuous industry-university collaboration makes up the core of Konya Food and Agriculture University’s R&D strategy Konya Food and Agriculture University is founded as an international research university where the medium of instruction is English. We are inspired by the first agricultural settlement in the World, Çatalhöyük civilization, which was founded 9000 years ago at the agricultural center of Anatolia, Konya. Included to the List of World Heritages by UNESCO, Çatalhöyük was a unique settlement at the time due to its high population and strong tradition of art and culture. With its innovative and productive character, our newly founded university is built upon the 9000 years old tradition of Çatalhöyük.

R&D Strategy

Our university is founded by Anadolu Birlik Holding and Konya Şeker, which are among the largest corporations is Turkey with investments in various sectors including but not limited to agriculture, food, materials and energy. With around 40 companies including the famous brand Torku, our university features solid industry-university collaboration opportunities, enabling the rapid conversion of the knowledge developed in to value added products and applications for the good of the society.

Education Model

The education model at Konya Food and Agriculture University is specifically focused on application and it follows a general to specific route. Unlike the conventional education model, Konya Food and Agriculture University will accept students to its faculties and the students will be free to choose any department of their choice at the end of the first year of undergraduate education. Currently the university is organized into three faculties (Faculty of Agriculture & Natural Sciences, Faculty of Engineering & Architecture and Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities) and two institutes (Graduate School of Natural & Applied Sciences and Graduate School of Social Sciences)

Campus

Designed according to the LEED gold standards, the campus is located right at the middle of the Konya city center and only 800 meters to the high speed train station. Traveling times with the high speed train from campus to Ankara, Eskişehir and İstanbul are 1h 40 minutes, 1h 50 minutes and 4h 15 minutes, respectively. With a total confined space of 150.000 m2, the campus will house 3 different faculty buildings, a cultural and convention center, a library and an indoor sport facility in addition to dormitories, cafeteria and a health center. In addition to the facilities related to education and social activities, the campus also features a dedicated technopark zone. The technopark zone will house a state-of-the-art R&D building in addition to an incubation center, a test and analysis center, a central laboratory and a pilot plant.
