Founded in 2001, the L3S research center develops methods and technologies for digital transformation and researches the effects of digitization. Based on this, it derives options for action, recommendations and innovation strategies for industry, politics, and society.
The L3S is internationally renowned for its cutting-edge research in the field of artificial intelligence and for the development of application-oriented AI methods in the areas of production, mobility, medicine, and education.
As a joint institution of Leibniz Universität Hannover and Technische Universität Braunschweig, the L3S is a leading research institute in the field of artificial intelligence. More than 30 professors from different disciplines and universities are members of the research institution. In total, more than 200 scientists work at the L3S, including many PhD students who are supervised according to the L3S Mentoring Guidelines. The annual budget of the L3S is around 14 million euros.
