The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a professorship in control theory and robotics. The position will be based in the School of Electrical, information and Media Engineering. We are looking for an outstanding personality who will continuously develop this area in research and teaching.
The professorship is responsible for covering the full scope of control theory in research and teaching, with a particular focus on the following areas:
As an internationally networked researcher, you should be able to contribute to current international research. Candidates must demonstrate a willingness and ability to engage in research collaboration within the school and at our university, as well as with leading national and international research institutions and companies in the local industrial sector. The professorship contributes to the University of Wuppertal’s research focus areas of “Environment, Engineering, and Safety.” It also contributes to strengthening the school’s core research areas of “Artificial Intelligence, Data and Media Technology,” “Electromobility and Automotive,” and “Materials.Inspire.Systems.” Its research topics align with the University of Wuppertal’s interdisciplinary research approach in the interdisciplinary centres “Machine Learning and Data Analytics (IZMD),” “Mobility and Energy (IZME),” or “Port Hamilton Systems (PHS),” the activities of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Safety Technology in the field of automation technology and robotics, as well as the university’s activity areas “AI for Empowering the Future (AI4EF),” “Next Generation Learning, Teaching, Knowledge Transfer,” and “Shaping Sustainable Societal Transformation.” In teaching, the professorship is involved in the school’s Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in the specialisations ‘Electrical Engineering’, ‘Computer Science’, ‘Smart & Sustainable Systems’ and in the English-language Master's degree programme ‘Smart Materials & Systems’. You are open to modern teaching methods.
Participation in academic self-administration is expected as a matter of course.

You are able to demonstrate your qualification for the position by publications in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals, international orientation (e.g., staysabroad, international collaborations) and the independent acquisition, leadership and management of third-party funded projects.
