YOUR TASKS
- At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on academic research
- You will assist in teaching activities at the Bachelor’s or Master’s level
- You will counsel Master’s students in their exercises, work placement and Master’s dissertation
- You will counsel doctoral students
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a doctoral degree (PhD in physical education/ health sciences/ sports sciences or equivalent OR PhD in biomedical engineering or equivalent). For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
- You have already conducted research within the field of biomechanics or biomedical mathematics. You are experienced in the common biomechanical analyses and analytical methods. U can program in a mathematical programming language to facilitate data analysis.
- You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher in your doctorate, you can work in a team and are strongly interested in fundamental and applied scientific research.
- You are profoundly interested in coaching students in the Bachelor’s, Master’s and/or Advanced Master’s programs (speaking or learning to speak Dutch is a prerequisite)
- You can write research proposal to obtain grants in the competitive research field.
- You possess a strong interdisciplinary profile at the intersection of biomechanics and engineering sciences, with applications in clinical and/or sports contexts. - You have experience with musculoskeletal modeling and/or personalized biomechanical models
- Strong programming skills (e.g. Python, MATLAB) for numerical modeling and data analysis, knowledge of AI and machine learning techniques, and experience with musculoskeletal modeling tools (e.g. AnyBody, OpenSim) are considered an advantage
- You have a strong interest in student supervision in academic and/or advanced academic education.
- You have relevant scientific publications in widely distributed international and national scientific journals that rely on experts to evaluate submitted manuscripts.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a temporary appointment of 3 years. A second appointment of up to 3 years can follow, subject to a favourable evaluation of the first term
- Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to three years, you can apply
- The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term Your appointment will start on 1 September 2026 at the earliest
