Furthermore, the Goethe University is part of the Group of Rhine-Main Universities (RMU).

for a limited period of four years. The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U) or to the participating institutions.

In our collaborative research center, 19 project leaders and around 100 employees work on the mechanistic elucidation of protein complexes and machineries at cell membranes, thus making pioneering contributions to biomedicine and the treatment of diseases.

Your tasks:

We are looking for research assistants to investigate the molecular mechanisms and protein complexes that control cell membrane dynamics in health and disease. By integrating biochemical / structural and cell biological approaches, we aim to elucidate the function and interplay of molecular mechanisms that govern the fundamental cellular pathways.

We offer:

Embedded in the Frankfurt Riedberg science campus, the CRC 1507 offers high-profile and versatile research projects, a stimulating work environment, excellent professional development opportunities, and attractive benefits (at Goethe University Frankfurt currently including a job ticket, pension plan, sports facilities, and on-site childcare). Our state-of-the-art research infrastructure encompasses, among others, cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, advanced imaging techniques, CRISPR-based gene editing, and intelligent probe technologies. Researchers are given the opportunity to independently design their own projects and choose from a wide range of interesting scientific questions and techniques, as well as to engage in collaborations at national and international level.

Your qualifications:

We are seeking talented scientists with a scientific master’s degree and a PhD in biochemistry or a related field, ideally with a strong track record of publications and proven experience in the studies mentioned above. The working language is English, and excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills are essential. We also expect creative thinking and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to lead a small team of students.

Goethe University is committed to equal opportunity, family friendliness, and diversity. To strengthen the diversity of perspectives and lived experiences within the university, applications from individuals with a migration background and from members of other groups that have so far been underrepresented are particularly welcome. Applicants with a severe disability, or those legally equivalent, will be given preferential consideration in cases of equal suitability. If women are underrepresented in a faculty or administrative unit, they will be given preferential consideration in cases of equal qualifications.

Information on the individual projects can be found on our homepage at www.sfb1507.de. Please apply by June 30, 2026, to a maximum of three of the subprojects participating in this advertisement: P07, P11, P17, P18, and P20, and send your electronic application in English to: [email protected], for the attention of Dr. Katrin Rettig, CRC 1507, Max-von-Laue-Straße 9, 60438 Frankfurt / Main. Your application package (summarized in one PDF file) should include a short description of your past research and future plans (max. two pages), CV, publication list, copies of certificates and two academic references.

Please note that application documents will not be returned. Goethe University will not reimburse any costs incurred in connection with the application process.

We are looking forward to receiving your application!
