UOC, the world's first online university

The UOC was created in Barcelona in 1994 and teaching began in 1995,

 with 200 students. It was the first university ever to run exclusively online. With more than 85,700 graduates, it is now one of the biggest universities in Spain.

Created by the Catalan government, the UOC is a university run privately to provide a

 public service and facilitates equitable and inclusive access to higher education. We adopted the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as our roadmap.

The UOC’s methodology – its proprietary learning model – is based on three basic elements: learning resources, personalized student support from teaching staff, and collaboration.
