Your role

The successful candidate will join the young, vibrant, and interdisciplinary FINATRAX Research Group, which builds bridges between Business Research and Information Systems engineering. The group conducts research on the application and the impact of digital technologies like DLT/Blockchain, Digital Identities, and Machine Learning/AI 5G on organisations from both the private and public sectors. The group consists of doctoral and post-doctoral researchers from diverse backgrounds (e.g., policy, business, technology), united in pursuit of sustainable technologies that positively impact society. The successful person will pursue a Doctorate in Information Systems Engineering while collaborating on a publicly funded research project with our industry partner Encevo. In this project, the aim is to analyze and develop robust anonymization techniques that can balance privacy and data protection with data utility for a varying range of use cases and data types. The candidate will perform the work together with an interdisciplinary team of postdoctoral researchers who are experts in the field.

In general, the candidate will perform the following tasks:

  • Carry out research in fields of interest to the research group, such as:
    • Examining socio-technical antecedents and implications of data anonymization,
    • Investigating the impacts of various anonymization techniques from a business, legal and regulatory standpoint
    • Designing and evaluating a reference process model to guide the implementation of legally compliant data anonymization
  • Conduct interviews with the involved stakeholders
  • Disseminate results through scientific publications in outlets on the intersection between information systems, computer science, and energy markets
  • Support the conceptualization and writing of research proposals to attract industry partnerships as well as national and European grant projects
  • Create project deliverables

Your profile

  • Master's degree in information systems, business informatics, business and management, computer science, software engineering, data science, or related fields with a socio-technical background
  • Interest in data anonymization and/or technology law will be considered an asset
  • Interest in applying methods commonly used in information systems research (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, design science research) will be considered an asset
  • A collaborative team player with a desire to make a personal impact within our interdisciplinary research group
  • The commitment to participate in the design and implementation of high-quality solutions that solve significant problems
  • Self-initiative, creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and enthusiasm to work
  • The position requires English-language proficiency for both written and verbal communication. Knowledge of French, German and/or Luxembourgish is not required
