About the FHSE

The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) at the University of Luxembourg brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences.

Your role

The Postdoctoral researcher will be working in the Institute for Lifelong Learning and Guidance, within the Department of Education and Social Work. The person will be part of a dynamic organisational context of a growing, globally connected research university. The postdoctoral researcher will collaborate closely with Prof. Dr Claude Houssemand (https://wwwen.uni.lu/forschung/fhse/desw/people/claude_houssemand/) on topics related to cognitive differential psychology, especially cognitive strategies in visuo-spatial tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration and support of research and administrative tasks in the field of psychology, education and guidance
  • Self-organised and collaborative research
  • Application for and coordination of (international) third-party funding
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Innovative teaching
  • Independent supervision of students and doctoral researchers
  • Transfer of relevant research results to various communities and a wider public
  • Academic self-administration (Institute, Department and Faculty)

Your profile

  • PhD in psychology, with a focus on at least one of the below areas:
    • Cognitive psychology
    • Differential psychology
    • Neuropsychology
    • Evaluation and Assessment
    • Methodology and Statistics
  • Interest in psychological and cognitive science issues and ambition to advance one of the aforementioned subject areas
  • Fluency in English and French is required; good command of Luxembourgish and / or German is considered an asset
  • Training and experience in quantitative empirical methods
  • Good command of multivariate and complex statistical methods
  • International publications in peer-reviewed journals and / or book publications as well as alternative approaches to research communication/ data management
  • Innovative teaching experience
